What is IWPAC?

 

The Insuring Wisconsin PAC (IWPAC) is the newest addition to the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin’s already active government affairs program. IWPAC, a voluntary, nonprofit unincorporated committee, is designed to take our Association to the next level in state government affairs advocacy.

 What does IWPAC do?

IWPAC pools contributions from our members to support selected candidates for the Assembly, Senate and Governor’s office who share our business philosophies.

 Why is IWPAC important?

For the same reason you tell your customers to purchase insurance - it’s an investment in your agency and your future that ensures your best interests are represented in the halls of the Capitol. Every day, legislation is introduced in the Legislature that could affect your business. Proposed legislation often includes increased reporting/requirements and unnecessary regulation. It’s our job to ensure that the unfavorable proposals don’t become law while advocating for positive legislation.

 

Who selects the candidates for financial support?

 

The IWPAC steering committee selects the candidates IWPAC will support. A report of IWPAC expenditures is available online at the Government Accountability Board or by contacting the IIAW.

 

Why should I give through IWPAC?

 

IWPAC studies each race and candidate before support is given. The IWPAC steering committee will then select candidates who share our legislative goals and support our industry. Pooling our contributions results in sizable contributions that give our Association and its members increased visibility. Legislators will remember who we are and take the time to listen to our concerns.
