Writing insurance for contractors who fix things, build things, and destroy things, requires specialized knowledge and skills.  Examine “construction defect” exposures, certificate of insurance dilemmas, contractual transfers and assumptions of risk, and Additional Insured vs. Named Insured concerns, insuring personal autos on company.  Examine how revisions in the latest edition ISO Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage for “insured contracts” impact your customers and additional insured.

It is vital that you know how coverage is coordinated between the CGL and Business Auto coverage.  Issues including coverage for completed operations and products liability concerns will be reviewed.  Evaluate misunderstood CGL coverages such as the difference between damage to your work or products and the extent of coverage for damage arising out of your work or products.  Learn why it is important to know when an “ongoing operation” becomes a “completed operation.”  Examine when an insured needs discontinued products and operations coverage.
